“Saisons Russes” in Cologne 2017

Russian presence at imm cologne in 2017 is going to be particularly imposing. By the middle of November, such companies as “Almaz” (“Lubidom”), “Ormatek”, “Interdesign” and “Mebeltorg” (former ”Severstal-Mebel”) have confirmed their participation in the fair, as the Koelnmesse Russian representative office told “Mebelny Biznes” magazine. “There is also going to be a group exposition organized by The Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia and supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade,” — said Anna Shilova, the Koelnmesse project leader in Russia and Belarus. “About ten companies will be presented at this exposition, the final list of exponents is yet to be confirmed.”

The German industrial consultant Hans-Juergen Bokrat comments on the Russian factories export ambitions: “The Russian furniture industry's only strong competitor in Germany is Poland. Other Eastern European countries do not possess such advanced production resources. But prices for Polish production are on the rise, so Russia has a chance. Especially now, when the rouble remains weak. As to logistics, the distance between Moscow and Germany is not a risk factor anymore. Most of the Russian manufacturing companies are located in the European part of the country and they have warehouses in the Central Federal District. Just count all the empty trucks that go from East to West: today it's much cheaper to deliver products from Russia to Europe than from Europe to Russia.”
