How does the Russian subsidiary of the largest supplier of tools feel, what strategy does it choose? We talked about these issues with Oleg Zaitsev, Director General of Leitz Tooling Systems Ltd.

“Today, the number of major projects in the revenue structure has dropped noticeably, customers are clearly giving preference to standard products. In other words, customers prefer not to take risks, they choose a reliable and proven tool.

Given this trend, we released a catalog of the Russian warehouse program for the first time. There are 400 articles — the most popular milling cutters, saws, drills. We intend to keep up to 80–90% of the tools from this list in stock permanently so that our clients from the Moscow region can get them within 24 hours after the application is made. Our branches in the regions also formed their warehouse programs: no one is inclined to freeze funds and keep stocks today, so the time and reliability of supplies are of particular importance.

Of course, our warehouse program will constantly expand. Recently, Leitz has come up with a lot of solutions that will allow the increase of productivity and costs reduction — the indicators to which our customers are now showing particular interest.

The second important topic is service. Today, not only in Moscow but also in our branches in St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, we offer customers sharpening, repair and even toolmaking. Special equipment, qualified personnel, the most advanced materials and technologies allow us to guarantee that, for example, the cutting quality of saws after sharpening will be the same as for a new tool. Thus, customers have an opportunity to use the resource of the tool to the maximum extent possible, thereby reducing expenditures.

We began to develop communications in the market actively through various presentations, workshops. We were to discover that such events arouse great interest among specialists. We strive to show the major innovations at the seminars, the things that will help our customers to improve their competitiveness.”
