A knitted and jacquard fabric producing factory that belongs to the Italian Stellini Textile Group holding solemnly opened in Kohma. Russian factory became the company’s fifth business asset outside Italy.

The company in the Ivanovo region will annually produce 420 thousand running meters of knitted fabrics and 780 thousand meters of jacquard. Stellini clan has already invested about 10 million euro in the project.

In the future, the Italians are planning to launch the production of polypropylene yarns (400 tons per year) in Kohma, which will allow them to push China and Turkey aside on the Russian market.

The investment project has been realized incredibly quickly. Less than a year passed between the choice of a suitable site and the plant launch. Managing Director of the holding, Stellini Valentino, explains that the Ivanovo region has been chosen for good reason. Firstly, it is originally a textile region (linen manufactories appeared there in the 17th century), and secondly, the major consumers of Stellini’s products are based in the central region. For 10 years holding have been collaborating with leading domestic mattress manufacturers, providing them with fabric from Italy. Now Stellini’s top managers hope that the long-standing Russian clients (such as Askona, Ormatek, Sonum, Sweet Dreamers, Materlux, Toris Group, Estetica, Foamline, Best Sleep) will help to keep Kohma factory fully occupied.

“We have been working with Stellini for a long time, our purchase volumes are already big, but we still hope that with the opening of the Kohma plant they will grow,” — confirms the head of sales department of Askona Isabella Shubin. “We intend to refocus from the Italian Stellini production to Russian and we will possibly change Asian supplies for Russian.”
