The collective stand of domestic manufacturers was organized within the framework of the exposition by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, showcasing leaders of the Russian furniture market. Among the exponents there were such companies as Almaz (Trade mark Lubidom), DMI Rus (Katyusha Furniture Concern), Ivanovo furniture factory Trading house, Svoboda, Baltic furniture (Interdesign/Logistika) and Shatura Furniture Company.

The exhibition took place between May 23 and 27 in Dubai World Trade Centrе — the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre. The exhibitors being members of the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia were given a partial reimbursement for participation, build-up and logistics expenses. The participants took positive note of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s undertaking and expressed a wish to support all the Ministry’s export initiatives.

“INDEX Dubai Exhibition is quite a peculiar event,” — says Sergei Zmievskiy, Director General of Almaz. “It is not so much a furniture showcase as an exhibition of interior design items and accessories. In view of this, we went to the Emirates after laying the groundwork. Meetings with several major players of the Middle East market were arranged beforehand. We are not going to disclose all the details yet, but I’d say there is a strong possibility that we will be able to strengthen our market position. The Gulf region is beyond all doubts a perspective area for export. It is worth making an effort. In addition, participation in the national exhibition gave us a positive impression. Russian companies managed to represent the industry honorably. I believe that such projects should be pursued.”
